I have an identical twin brother, which means we have opinions on how twins are depicted in fiction. It also means that we drawn to the same twin character in any set of twins. It's just how it happens that one ends up being better than the others, particularly in Transformers. Well, the one time we ever agreed on which twin we'd imprint on was Skids and Mudflap; he gravitated towards Skids, I towards Mudflap.

And then we actually watched the movie. Wasn't that interested in them after that. Threw me for a loop when I saw Mudflap in Cybertron though.

“Sam…” you spoke up, watching the boy pace back and forth, his steps erratic and his breathing heavy.

“There’s nothing you could’ve done,” your optics softened as you kneeled down beside him, your servos gently resting on his shoulder.

Sam looked up at you; you could see the tears in his eyes streaming down his face. His skin was dirty, smudged with grime, and his clothes were partly torn.

“I don’t know what to do…” His voice was shaky, filled with despair.

“We stick together, Sam,” you nodded, offering a reassuring smile on your face plate.

Hearing more footsteps, you lifted your helm, seeing Bumblebee back with the twins, Skids and Mudflap, who were bantering as usual.

“Welp, no punk-ass cons followed us, so we all good,” Mudflap said, a hint of bravado in his tone.

“Good,” you hummed, feeling a slight sense of relief.

“Sam— you okay?” Bumblebee said through the radio. Sam sniffled and wiped his face with the back of his hand, trying to compose himself. “Yeah… I’m okay, Bee. Just… overwhelmed.”

Bumblebee stepped closer, his optics softening. “We’re here for you, Sam. We’ll get through this together.”

You stood back up, placing your servo on your hip, hearing Sam’s friend Leo walking over to you all in a panicked frenzy.

“Literally, I can’t believe this—this shit is insane!” Leo exclaimed, his voice cracking with fear.

“Ah, here his punk ass go again,” Skidz groaned. “Fucking pussy.”

“Hey, hey! I shouldn’t be here—literally should not be here right now, man! I can just go back and tell them I had nothing to do with it because technically I didn’t—Simplemente corrí hacia donde tú corrías. Esto no tiene nada que ver conmigo, soy inocente!” Leo rambled, his words spilling out faster and faster.

Switching your servo to a gun, you commanded, “Shut it.”

Leo’s eyes widened as he put his hands in the air, shouting, “Woah woah woah! Don’t shoot! I’m just saying—this isn’t my fight! I’m not cut out for this! I can’t handle this kind of pressure! And you—oh my god, you were a Decepticon! How do we know we can trust you? How do I know you won’t just turn on us? This is crazy!”

Bee quickly stepped in front of you, waving your gun away from Leo’s direction. “No need for that, let’s stay calm,” he urged.

“Oh oh, you done pissed off one of the old ones,” Skid began to holler. “Nah uh, imma stay right here.

“Old one? What do you mean old! You’re a bad one—MAN! What the fuck—” Leo stammered, “I can’t do this! I can’t do this shit! I don’t want to die! I have a life, I have plans, I have—And now we have a former Decepticon on our side? How is this supposed to make me feel safe?”

Sam cussed to himself as he shoved Leo back slightly. “She was one. Was! Keyword, remember that, alright?” Sam looked up at you his eyes giving a pleading stare. “N/N, please—”

“Sorry,” you said, switching back to your servo. “Old habit.”

“That’s that Megatron training right there,” Mudflap joked.”

“Mhm, from Destiny’s Child to Beyoncé, she’s glowin’ now, look at her,” Skid laughed, nudging Mudflap.

“You two— fucking shitheads think this is funny?” Leo snapped at the twins.

Leo, still catching his breath and visibly trembling. “This is all just too much. I mean, how are we supposed to trust her? What if she goes back to the Decepticons? What if—”

Sam sighed, running a hand through his hair. “Shut up! Jesus! We fugitives! We’re ALL fugitives— doesn’t matter anymore. Shit is gonna happen, more shit is gonna get ugly! You wanted to be apart of it now you’re in the middle of it.”

Mudflap chuckled. “Well at least we look good.”

“Right, cause we sexier than a mother fucka,” Skidz said nodding his helm. “Got shit twisted, we gonna come out looking like hero’s. Leo’s gonna come out with no clothes and a thong.”

“I can fucking hear you two!” Leo shouted.

You walked away towards Mikaela, who was sitting by a fire. Transforming into your vehicle mode, you opened your door. “It’s a lot warmer in here,” you said, using the radio to communicate with her.

Mikaela looked up, her eyes reflecting the flickering flames, and gave a small smile. “Thanks,” she said, standing up and walking over to you. She slipped into the passenger seat, closing the door behind her.

Settling into your warm interior, Mikaela sighed in relief. “This is much better,” she admitted, rubbing her hands together to warm them up.

You adjusted your internal temperature to make her more comfortable. “I know it’s been a rough day, but we’re all here for each other,” you said through the radio.

Mikaela nodded, her expression softening. “Yeah, I know. It’s just… a lot to take in. Y/N….?”

“Yes?”

“What’s gonna happen to us?”

“…get some sleep Mikaela.”

You felt a tap on your hood, waking up from your recharge. You slowly scanned the area, picking up Mikaela’s body near Sam on a broken couch. Transforming into your alt mode, your optics opened and adjusted, seeing Bumblebee standing near you.

He tilted his helm, swaying his servo for you to follow him. You followed him a little ways out, not too far where you couldn’t see the fire.

“What is it, Bee?” you asked him. “Everything okay?”

“Losing… Optimus made me think about losing Sam and you… I can’t lose you,” Bumblebee said, looking at you intently.

“Bumblebee,” you chuckled shyly. “What are you saying right now?”

“You and I—have more chemistry than I thought. I love you, Y/N, more than the world could ever know,” Bumblebee said, stuttering slightly with his voice box.

Your optics widened in surprise, the sincerity in his words and the vulnerability in his stance taking you a little aback. “Bee, you and I we—“

Bumblebee took a step closer, his servos gently reaching out to you. “I’ve felt this way for a while. I just never found the right moment to tell you. But with everything going on….”

You processed his words, feeling a mix of emotions. “I love you too. Always felt it in my spark.”

A relieved, happy sound emanated from Bumblebee. “You do?”

“Yes, I do,” you admitted, stepping closer and placing your servo on his. Bumblebee brought you closer, his helm touching yours gently. You hummed, closing your optics. “Even with a con, you still want this?”

“More than anything,” Bumblebee replied, his voice steady and full of conviction.

You felt a warmth spread through your circuits. “We’ll be okay…”

A Brother's Grief.

A Transformers Sideswipe Centric Fanfiction Based on Dark of the Moon's deleted Skids and Mudflap death scene featured in the novel and comic adaptations.

Sideswipe was jealous of the twin brothers known as Skids and Mudflap. They still had each other while Sideswipe was missing his own twin, Sunstreaker. Sideswipe was annoyed by the small twins because it reminded him of when he and his twin were together.

Despite their fights, the small twins had the brotherly bond that Sideswipe and Sunstreaker had. Again, Sideswipe was jealous of the small twins. But now, he wishes he wasn't. Because now…

They're gone.

Skids and Mudflap, the twins who always bickered, the twins who fooled around, the twins who still had each other…. were now nothing but rusted and lifeless pieces of scrap metal.

It started when the autobots discovered Optimus Prime's long lost mentor Sentinel Prime in stasis on earth's moon and re-awoke him. Unfortunately, he wasn't what they hoped he'd be. It turned out that he made a deal with the decepticons' leader Megatron for the sake of the survival of their home planet, Cybertron.

After Sentinel revealed the deal, he killed Ironhide. Bumblebee was next, but Skids took the shot for him. Mudflap, filled with grief and rage over the death of his twin, fought Sentinel to avenge him and give everyone time to escape thus he also lost his life.

It was bad enough that Sideswipe lost his mentor Ironhide that day, but to also lose the twins had hit the silver warrior really hard.

He now misses Sunstreaker more then ever before.

Not including the broader businesses which may be restaurants, there are 22 establishments categorized as "bars" in the Transformers Wiki, including among them human and alien locations as well as oil houses.

Earth: 4

Specifically upon the Lost Light: 2

Elsewhere in space: 3

In or near Iacon: 7

Elsewhere on Cybertron*: 5

In Legend's World, which is its own confusing thing: 1

*some of those "on cybertron" could possibly also be in Iacon, as they don't indicate specifically where on Cybertron.

I feel like we need to do better as a fandom and chastise the official media a bit for this. Like, one specific ship has 2 of the known bars!? Iacon has nearly a third of all known bars across known Transformers continuities!?

Like, obviously there's some bias here. There's the possibility that there are more and TF wiki hasn't documented and/or categorized them. There's also the possibility that because more stories in general are set in Iacon more bars have been written as being there.

But still, I think the Jump Joint is the only one specifically said to be in Kaon, and The Proton Blaster is in Damaxus, and leaving 3-ish others for all the rest of Cybertron.

And I know that many many fic writers must have had to do worldbuilding work to place new bars or to establish some of the "on Cybertron" ones as being in a specific city-state.

I had to go and put Luggies in Helex and O'Malleys (AKA ROM Alley Spacebar) in Hydrax plus make up some fictional ones (The Speak Easy in Tarn, The Dive* and Bird Cage* in Vos, NoiseMaze* and The Rainbow* in parts of Unitrex. *arguably some were more broadly nightclubs or cabaret's, but they had bars. And this seems fair, because even Maccadam's is sometimes portrayed as having music and/or dancing.) because when I go to write where the characters decide to refuel there's this dearth of canonical establishments outside of Iacon.

And I suppose some of that is because the war that lasts hundreds or millions of years or stellar cycles (depending on continuity) destroys what economy there once was.

But I feel like we must have had so many writers not speaking to each other and all putting some new cleverly named pub in Iacon instead of spreading things out or using the ones already known.

Like, also, this does not include businesses not categorized as 'bars', like Swindle's, which arguably is a casino...in Iacon?

Are we supposed to think this is intentional worldbuilding and all the 'mudflaps' working on energon farms out in Polyhex Province can't even have their own local bar because they have to ship that much energon to "The Capital"?

My finalized TF series idea

Been fine tuning and developing this one for a few years and think i’ve mostly got it down where i want it.

Cybertron is in a stagnant state under its ununified civilian-formed high council; council member alpha trion sees a need for change, primarily in dealing with the resurgence of the decepticon army.  He intends to retrieve the matrix of leadership, which he had guarded and jettisoned from cybertron to protect from the decepticons. He conspires with sergeant Kup convoy to get the matrix and bestow it to optimus, a bot who they have both mentored, to make him the next prime. With trion secretly authorizing the mission, kup takes a ship and squad of autobots to retrieve the matrix. However, the decepticons gain wind of the expedition, with megatron guessing their intent, and follow in their flagship, the nemesis.  In an attempt to throw off their pursuers, kup splits his ship and team in two.  Kup and a small crew continue on, followed by megatron and a hand-picked crew while the main decepticon force follows the other ship.

Engaging in a space battle above the target world, earth, both ships are crippled and go down; the autobots crash land on earth while the decepeticons ship is converted into a camouflaged, orbital satellite base. Megatron makes contact with a decepticon scout on earth, who mortally wounds kup.  Kup reinforces his faith in optimus and promotes him to convoy commander. He also tells optimus about the matrix and to find it, but not why, before he dies.

The autobots take on earth alt modes and move into an abandoned mall as a base, also befriending teenager Marissa Faireborn. Unfortunately for them, marissa’s distant military father is put in charge of efforts to investigate and capture the transformers. Both factions battle across the planet and explore, searching for the lost matrix. They also contend with other cybertronians on earth, human interference and affairs as well as the many dark secrets earth hides.

Autobots:

Optimus convoy(pick-up truck)-brave and idealistic up-and-coming autobot commander

Red Alert(ambulance)-stern and distant female medic and technician, TFA based

Bumblebee(compact car)-eager and friendly young scout, he is the pep of the team and has a little brother relationship with optimus

Spittor-a small frog-like drone built by the autobots to accompany Marissa

Elita One(jet)-optimus’ spark mate who leads the other half of the split crew

Soundwave(communication truck)-cold and reserved second in command, with minions laserbeak and buzzsaw

Strika(anti-aircraft artillery truck)-powerful and ruthless general; left in stasis for a time after arriving on earth

Demolishor(cybertronian tank)-gruff and tough soldier

Slipstream(jet)-sarcastic and moody air warrior

Reflector(satellite)-dutiful and sneaky technician and spy; is three bodies controlled by a shared mind

Barricade(police car)-brooding and grim scout and hunter stationed on earth

Starscream(jet)- ambitious young commander put in charge of the nemesis

Sixshot-super soldier and starscreams enforcer/bodyguard

Obsidian-cautious general and strikas partner; he attempts to keep starscream under control

Blurr(race car)-a cocky speedster living as a rogue on earth

Junkions-a tribe of nomadic, space-faring junk bots who live hidden on earth

Dinobot(raptor)-a vicious Frankenstein-monster robot built by dr. arkeville to hunt the transformers

Flamesnort-an aggressive and territorial dragon-like seeker and former comrade of jetfire

Glowstrike(firefly)-a seeker turned criminal who ruled over ancient humans like a god

Sari sumdac & buster witwicky- marissa’s closest friends

Spacewarp(space ship)-a hardy rogue decepticon working as a pirate and adventurer who frequents earth. Her crew includes mini-con first-mate foldspace, the seasons who form god Neptune and tidal wave as their her ship

Alexythymia is (from what I read, but again, bias) less like so in tune with yourself you're unaware of the outside and... More like you're blindfolded and somebody passes you an object or sometimes just fully yeets it at you and from that, you've gotta guess wtf emotion it is. And you've never seen them or felt them before so you literally have no clue. If you HAVE felt it before it's still "I've felt it before, but don't know which it is." ... have never seen yourself with the emotion, you struggle even more to realize somebody else's emotions. You can see there is An Emotion, but.... Which one? You can't really reference yourself, so you have to start from scratch by watching them. My go-to is wacky comparisons, so: Alexythymia is like taking away subroutines for how to walk. You can, it's just... a LOT more confusing. Sorry for the wait responding. I had those projects over the past week and then today my keyboard randomly died (and I KNOW I charged it) so I’m up with the night owls again I guess.

Thank you for clarifying! Your examples really helped, and yeah, I think I was working it backwards lol. That does sound frustrating, but not unknowable since I think all of us have felt a lack of reference creating a gap in understanding before. Ngl I laughed at the BEEP BEEP BEEP part, but I felt that lol. 

With that in mind I think I’ll retract Optimus, who does know himself very well and only struggles with those unlike himself and replace him with Sideswipe. 

He hasn’t been written in yet, but he’s one of the very few Bay characters that has an interesting personality/origin (at least in the comics) that I intend to incorporate without too many touch ups. He also pops up pretty soon in the timeline since we’re stepping into sequel territory. 

He was born around the time Bumblebee was and is probably the very last generation until Harry. Rather than do their best to raise him as normally as possible like they did Bumblebee, whoever was responsible for him designed and raised him specifically for the war. 

He has the full array of emotions and is fairly aggressive and vain, but because his programming coincidentally mimics the Decepticons’ own modifications and he utterly lacks non combative social experience, he has an extremely hard time reading others correctly. 

Like. He showed up and thought Mudflap was a traitor. Dude could really use some counseling if he’s not going to admit he’s bad at people on his own.

Whether or not he reads himself correctly doesn’t often occur to him since he just does whatever his commanding officer tells him and likes being a soldier, but completely misunderstanding others and being ill equipped to handle problems that come up because of it is probably his largest hurdle.
